What to do

Guests at Apartamentos Playa Romana 3000 will be easily be able to enjoy Romana beach because the complex is located on the seafront, but can also discover the fascinating heritage of Alcossebre and its surrounding area. The most interesting monuments include the 18th century church of San Juan Bautista and its bell tower in Alcalá de Xivert; the belltower is 68 m high, making it one of the highest in the Autonomous Community of Valencia. A visit to Xivert Castle is also highly recommended; it is located in the south-eastern foothills of the Sierra d'Irta and was founded by the Moors at the end of the 11th/early 12th centuries. It was later built on by the Knights Templar during the reconquest of Spain.  Finally, the chapel of Santa Lucía is also found in the foothills of the Sierra d'Irta, at an altitude of over 300 m. In addition to its great cultural value, this 17th century chapel in the Valencian baroque style offers visitors wonderful views out to sea, of Alcossebre and its surroundings, and even to the Columbretes Islands.
